Checkup & Cleaning

Dental Checkup

Regular dental checkups for children are a critical part of preventive health care.

During a dental checkup, Appolonia specialists will evaluate your child's risk of tooth decay. A dental exam for children might also include dental X-rays or other diagnostic procedures.

There are two types of Pulp Therapy:

Ages 6 months to 1 year

The American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry and the American Dental Association recommend scheduling a child’s first dental exam after the first tooth erupts and no later than the first birthday. Also expect your baby’s teeth and gums to be examined at well-baby checkups.

Toddlers, school-age children and teens

The American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry recommends scheduling regular dental checkups, with the most common interval being every six months. However, the dentist might recommend fewer or more-frequent visits depending on your child’s risk factors for oral health problems.

Dental Cleaning

The aim of a good oral hygiene routine is to remove plaque. Plaque is made of food and bacteria that grow on the teeth surfaces and around the gum line and can cause oral health problems such as gum disease and tooth decay, if not removed effectively.

While brushing and flossing teeth at home is all well and good, your child should also see Appolonia pediatric dentists every 6 months. Appolonia specialists will carry out a professional cleaning to remove any plaque and tartar on your child’s teeth and the appointment ends with a nice polish to remove any staining, leaving your child with nice and shiny teeth. This will help encourage healthy gums and prevent dental diseases.
